Today’s Business Insider offers the following headline:

Huawei is accused of attempting to copycat a T-Mobile robot, and the charges read like a comical spy movie

I can’t read the article because I use an ad-blocker and Business Insider uses an ad-blocker-blocker; but is there any reason why the headline must employ the noun, copycat, as a verb, instead of an existing verb, such as to copy? Does it enrich the language, or is it merely killing a metaphor?
